Change links

hi
i love gcstar and i used it to build a database of my cross stitch patterns
but then i got a new computer and now all the links to files are wrong

is there a way to change all the file links through some sort of 'find/replace' without me having to go through and change each of the 1550 records individually? (yes, i have far too many cross stitch patterns....)

i see the find and replace option in the edit menu, but it seems to only replace the whole of the field, and i need it just to replace the first part so that the path to the file is corrected.

thanks

Re: Change links

Hi

In preparation of such use case, my advice would be to configure GCstar to use relative paths for images. The simpliest solution is maybe to do that, temporarily recreate the old directories and save the whole collection somewhere else.

If it's not possible, after having made a backup of your GCS file, edit it with any text editor and run a command to modify all  "image" fields. The pattern is

Code:

 image="directory/image_name"

.

Most OS will allow you to do that with a one-line command (using "sed" for example).

Should you have a problem using GCstar, you can open a bug report or request some support on GCstar forums.
