Version 2.9 of GCstar Viewer for Android released
This version fixes the problem that was reported by some users with Android Honeycomb (3.1) used on Asus Transformer and other devices. Version 2.8 didn't start on them before this change.

Bonjour,
Ça serait génial si on pouvait télécharger le fichier apk hors le market. Moi j'ai une tablette Archos et je n'ai pas accès au market de g$$gle, je trouve pas le gcstar viewer nulle part ailleurs!

Hello all
Is there somewhere the possibility to download an apk package of the viewer version 2.9. I have a tab with android 4.0.3 on which I would like to try the viewer, but I do not have wifi access with the tab at home, and I do not have access to google play. I use the desktop version on OpenSuse. I tried version 2.8 of the viewer but it crashed upon trying to open a collection.

Ok, just saw that danielc had posted the same question. Unfortunately I don't speak french, so excuse the repetition.
However on the fdroid page I read

I have never cross-compiled anything in my life, and I am afraid I would only have limited success with it. So my question remains:
Does anyone know where I could get an apk package?

Should you have a problem using GCstar, you can open a bug report or request some support on GCstar forums.
