"easy" install

Hi, I recently made the switch to Ubuntu (Edgy) and don't want to deal with complicated linux installs quiet yet. When, if ever, will GCStar be available through my package manager?

Re: "easy" install

Can always download a deb file for it,  http://ftp.ubuntulinux.org/ubuntu/pool/ … /g/gcstar/

Or simply install from source.

1. Unzip the source
2. Start a console and enter the gcstar folder "$ cd gcstar"
3. Type ./install in your console and gcstar will be instsalled..

Really simple..

Re: "easy" install

There's a deb file in the previous link, but that's only for v0.5.  What I did to install it on Dapper was to run the .rpm from here: http://download.gna.org/gcstar/Rpm/gcst … noarch.rpm through alien and then install the resulting .deb file with dpkg.  So you'd do this:

sudo alien -d gcstar-1.0.0-1.noarch.rpm
sudo dpkg -i filename.deb

The alien process slightly renames the file, and I can't remember what the new filename is but it will be in the same directory as the original rpm file.

Should you have a problem using GCstar, you can open a bug report or request some support on GCstar forums.
