Windows user knowing Perl and NSIS

Hello,

GCstar is delivered to Windows users. The application itself is multi-platform but contains some little hacks specific to the Windows version (e.g. to deal with file paths containing backslashes instead of Unix' slash). The installation program is made using NSIS.

As I don't use Windows systems, I am not familiar with it. So it would be nice if someone could become the official maintainer for the Win32 version. The tasks would be as follows:

- Provide small patches in Perl source code to deals with Windows specificities
- Maintain NSIS scripts
- Provide support to Windows users through these forums

Thank you to let me know if you are interested in this.

Re: Windows user knowing Perl and NSIS

Hello,

There was only one person that began to work on this, but I had no news then. You may work on this if you wish and that would be really nice. Just keep in mind that I won't be able to help you as I don't use Microsoft's systems. So you will have to be autonomous.

Concerning the number of users, it's impossible to know as GCstar may be downloaded from many places.

Re: Windows user knowing Perl and NSIS

Hi Tian,
as I wrote many weeks ago, the problem is to compile source code successfully under Windows 7. It's a painful task.
I've tried many time but I have had no success.
I managed in compiling source code, until .exe file generation, then I receive a few errors.
I had been not able to understand the cause of these errors.

I would make another try in the next weeks. I'll let you know.

P.S.: good news about the Net-FreeDB perl module for windows.
Seems someone have noticed my bug report I submit about an year ago, and is working on it.
Here the report: https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=60277

Should you have a problem using GCstar, you can open a bug report or request some support on GCstar forums.
