compiling gcstar on a windows setup?

hello,

have been trying to compile gcstar on windows. the two methods at https://gitlab.com/Kerenoc/GCstar/-/blo … llation.md seem to be out of date (http://www.sisyphusion.tk/ppm/ no longer exists and activeperl no longer uses ppm).

any suggestions?

Re: compiling gcstar on a windows setup?

Unfortunately the GTK bindings for Perl on Windows don't seem to be maintained anymore. I'm currently using an old portable version of Strawberry Perl 5.26 with the Gtk2 and Gtk3 bindings but I can no longer recreate it now!

Last time I searched, the best option seemed to recompile the Gtk bindings on MSYS2, maybe starting here.

Anyhow, to enhance or fix GCstar, unless you really need to change the main program itself (bin/gcstar) that is packaged in the Windows binary, you can modify all the files in lib/gcstar in an installed version.

If you plan to do so, you could maybe share your ideas as issues in Gitlab and your solutions as code.

Re: compiling gcstar on a windows setup?

thanks for the info. a little bogged down at the moment to test this further. activeperl has an option to install gtk2 with their state tool but there was an issue with the tool resolving dependencies ( https://community.activestate.com/t/sta … s-x64/7774 ). looks like they fixed broken dependencies in some other threads so going to see what happens there.

not sure if it is helpful but i also saw this exists https://github.com/tschoonj/GTK-for-Win … -Installer

Should you have a problem using GCstar, you can open a bug report or request some support on GCstar forums.
