Games Don't Launch
I am using Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS 64-bit and installed GCstar via the repository. I have a ton of emulated games and took the time to add every stinking one to the default video games collection in GCstar. I must admit, it looks fantastic; but none of the games will launch from the GCstar collection window. I have all the executable files entered in GCstar and the files are marked as executable, but the function that I wanted GCstar doesn't work. Any tips?

Re: Games Don't Launch
Could you post an example of one of your fields containing the game executable?
Also, it might be worthwhile running gcstar from the terminal and see if any errors are shown there when trying to launch games.

For Super Mario 64, for instance, I have it listed under '/home/clicker4721/EMUFiles/N64/Super Mario 64.z64'. The file opens with Mupen64 as I have set when I double-click it, and it is marked as executable.
I ran just 'gcstar' and...Oh! GCstar is looking for a .sh script. Perhaps I should launch it as 'mupen64plus /home/clicker4721/EMUFIles/N64/Super Mario 64.z64'. Ahh, I have found the issue! No programs like spaces in filenames.
Okay, so basically I needed not so much to point to the file, but to open the program with the file from GCstar. Thanks for telling me to debug. I should have already known!
If I have any more problems due to my own stupidity, I'll post them again. You're wonderful!

Re: Games Don't Launch
Well, just as fate would have it, I do have another problem, and it probably is due to my stupidity. Here's the readout:
Code:
clicker4721@clicker4721d:~$ gcstar Can't use an undefined value as an ARRAY reference at /usr/bin/../share/gcstar/lib/GCItemsLists/GCImageLists.pm line 1276. Magic number checking on storable file failed at ../../lib/Storable.pm (autosplit into ../../lib/auto/Storable/fd_retrieve.al) line 398, at /usr/bin/../share/gcstar/lib/GCPlugins.pm line 98
Anything, Doc?

Re: Games Don't Launch
Could you try using the version from https://launchpad.net/~gcstar/+archive/gcstar-dev (current svn snapshot, but should be quite stable) and see if you have the same problem?

Everything installed just fine, but now I have the same issue. I've copied my library file to a safe location; I'll purge GCstar and reinstall. I'll check back.

Re: Games Don't Launch
A fresh install did nothing. Still won't open.

Re: Games Don't Launch
Hmm ok. When is this message appearing - what do you do in gcstar which triggers it?

I don't do anything. When I launch it, the icon appears (I use AWN), nothing opens, then the icon disappears. I never get the chance.

Re: Games Don't Launch
OK, it might be worth renaming your .config/gcstar folder and see if that makes any difference?

Should you have a problem using GCstar, you can open a bug report or request some support on GCstar forums.
