Use GCstar with multiple users over network
Hello,
I just found gcstar and it fits my needs nearly perfectly. But I wanted to ask if it is possible to work on a single database simultaneously with multiple users over a network. Has anyone tried this?
Thank you for your help!

Re: Use GCstar with multiple users over network
As far I know, it is not possible.
GStar doesn't use a DB file, just a flat file (XML format).

Re: Use GCstar with multiple users over network
Sorry, I had sworn allegiance to Gcstar, I don't know best software for Collections
But if your need is to have a multi-user access for reading data, take a look at http://gcweb.web4me.fr/

Re: Use GCstar with multiple users over network
I like GCstar and I hope development continues, however, here are similar projects:
Tellico (Linux):
http://tellico-project.org/
Data Crow (Linux, Mac, Windows):
http://www.datacrow.net/
I don't know how well either one works over a network, or at all, but I think Data Crow provides server software. Both are open source.

Should you have a problem using GCstar, you can open a bug report or request some support on GCstar forums.
