limited amazon lookups?

working on importing some new book entries and the amazon lookup stopped working after about 50-100 lookups? switching from amazon US to amazon UK worked for a bit and then started failing as well.

is there an api lookup limit?

Re: limited amazon lookups?

GCstar doesn't use the Amazon APIs, it emulates a normal user navigating the webpages. It's possible that Amazon has put some measures to limit the navigation if it detects that it's a program and not a user (the French site FNAC did that some years ago).

Re: limited amazon lookups?

lookups are working again after waiting an hour or two. just noticed descriptions aren't importing...is that expected or is it something i should file a bug about?

Re: limited amazon lookups?

I updated the Amazon book plugin to fix the descriptions' importation. Please check that it's working in your environment.

Re: limited amazon lookups?

thank you, that did the trick. puzzling over the code at the moment - looks like the way the description is getting pulled in, there are usually a few empty lines/line breaks at the beginning.

Re: limited amazon lookups?

The empty lines in the description should be removed in the last Gitlab version.
