Importing from Ant Movie Catalog

Using GCstar 1.0.0 I tried to import my AMC database, but nothing happens.

BTW, I don't know if I should use the Bug Tracker to report bugs as I've done before, or use this forum instead.

Hello,

Could you please try to launch GCstar from a console and perform the same operations. Then copy here any error message you will get.

BTW, I don't know if I should use the Bug Tracker to report bugs as I've done before, or use this forum instead.

For the moment, both of them are available (and I consult both of them). But this forum is now the prefered way for reporting bugs.

Re: Importing from Ant Movie Catalog

Sorry but I forgot I'm using Windows XP Home. How can I launch from a console?

I've also installed GCstar 1.0.0 in my other box, Ubuntu Edgy using the graphical installer, and there seems to be no problem importing the same AMC database.

BTW, I've had some optional unmet dependencies while installing in Ubuntu, and I have no clue on how to meet them.

Open a command prompt. Then go to the directory where you installed GCstar. Go into the subdirectory bin and launch :

Code:

perl ./gcstar

Try to launch the package manager integrated with your distribution. Then search for the corresponding packages. For your query, you may enter the package name as it appears in GCstar (Menu Help > View plugins) and "perl".

If you don't manage to find them, please tell me what are the missing dependencies so I'll try to find the exact package name for you.

Code:

perl ./gcstar

This is what I got after trying to import the AMC database and exiting GCstar:

Code:

Attempt to free unreferenced scalar: SV 0x3ee772c, Perl interpreter: 0x28415c during global destruction.

Re: Importing from Ant Movie Catalog

This error is on exit and is not really critical.

So there was no error when you tried to load the collection. Would that be possible for you to attach this collection to this bug report so I could perform some tests with it?

You may also send it directly to me using e-mail if you don't want it to be public. Or if its size is too big, put it somewhere and send me (or post here) the URL to its location.

Thank you for your help.

I already sent you the database, in case you haven't checked.

Re: Importing from Ant Movie Catalog

Hello,

I didn't have time to check that. I just tested and it worked for me. I managed to import the whole collection. I tested with CVS version.

The only strange thing is that there is no picture. Does this collection contain also some embedded pictures ?

Re: Importing from Ant Movie Catalog

Yes, almost every movie has an embedded picture, therefore the size of the file.

Re: Importing from Ant Movie Catalog

So I guess I should wait for next version to import my AMC collection, right?

No, because all plugins could be updated automatically without a new version of the whole software ( http://www.gcstar.org/doc.update ).

I didn't have time to have a better look to this for the moment. But as soon as I (or someone else) find a way to fix that, you will be able to get it.

Re: Importing from Ant Movie Catalog

I can't understand... I tested again with your file and it worked without any problem. The pictures were also imported.

I don't know what have been changed. Maybe I did other modifications that impacted this. I will do other tests and keep you informed.

Should you have a problem using GCstar, you can open a bug report or request some support on GCstar forums.
