Thank you for these new feedbacks.

When launching gcstar.bat, a DOS window pops up and stays visible until you close gcstar. This can be solved as described here:
This will be solved when this .zip will be packed in an installer that will also create a shortcut. This shortcut should be the same as the current one and then it won't display this window

In the book collection module, the simple "Find-function" (Ctrl+F) doesn't work. It always gives a "no items match your criteria". The advanced search and quick search in "Filter-menu" work fine.
I'll have a look to that. But I think it is not specific to the Windows version. I'll maybe need more information. I'll keep you informed through another topic that I'll link here.

I think it is specific to this new installer-version, because it works well on the same machines, using the manual install with the old exe-file. I'll give it a try on ubuntu 7.10 today.
thanks for your efforts!
edit:
installed newest version from www.getdeb.net on ubuntu 7.10 and it works, too.

Re: New installer for Windows systems - Testers needed
It took me a long time, but I created the wiki with information about the creation of the archive in this topic. There should be everything here:
http://wiki.gcstar.org/en/windows_installer
But I may forgot some steps or instructions. So do not hesitate to le me know if you have some problems trying to generate the archive.
I really hope someone will handle that as I don't think I will continue maintaining the Windows version by myself as it is too much work and I prefer focusing on free operating systems (mainly GNU/Linux) as they are the ones I use. But I can provide any required support to someone that would like to become the release manager for Windows systems.

Re: New installer for Windows systems - Testers needed
Hi,
i used this version for a long time,
but now (system reinstall) i get this message when i rund the .bat file.
Code:
D:\Programme\GCstar\bin>GCstar.bat Subroutine import redefined at POSIX.pm line 21. Subroutine croak redefined at POSIX.pm line 29. Subroutine AUTOLOAD redefined at POSIX.pm line 39. Subroutine new redefined at POSIX.pm line 67. Subroutine DESTROY redefined at POSIX.pm line 82. I thought an update would fix this, but it hasn't.

Re: New installer for Windows systems - Testers needed
Hello,
These problems are with the last version (1.4.2) ?
Could you please also check what is in the directory mentioned (C:\Users\float\AppData\Local\Temp\par-float\cache-621d28851f2847a11c5eefacaf6b37f93da5c69c/inc/share/logos/) and if the file splash.png is there.

Re: New installer for Windows systems - Testers needed
there is no "logos" folder in this temp path. vista says that gcstar.exe (in "bin" folder) file is version 1.3.2.0. where / how can i update my old portable gcstar to 1.4.2? ;-)
EDIT:
installed the new version. it works great thanks!

This is just a small bug. I forgot to update the version number that is shown here. But it's just a problem in the display, it won't affect anything else.
Thank you for your feedback, and happy to know it works now.

Should you have a problem using GCstar, you can open a bug report or request some support on GCstar forums.
