Re: Mixed requests: Italian plugins, classical music manager model...

Dear TPF,

At last I have some time to spend for one of my favourite hobbies: filling my GCstar collections!
(The others, of course, are filling my shelves with DVDs, videogames, books and CDs; and then watching movies, videogaming, reading novels and essays and listening to classical music...)

I've seen new Ludus.it website: it's very different from the one for which you wrote your plugin sad.
I think it will be very diffficult to write a new plugin for Ludus.it, so I started testing other websites too, like SpazioGames.it, NextGame.it and GameStar.it (yes, I already mentioned them in my first post).

ASAP I'll let you know results from my tests (and all the problems I'm finding sad).

Bye bye.

Re: Mixed requests: Italian plugins, classical music manager model...

Hi TPF!

Ludus.it is probably lost, but I found a new (and easier) web GUI for NextGame.

Let's start.

1. Reviewed Games Page
http://s220.photobucket.com/albums/dd163/Elassar_Pics/FireShotcapture17-Nextgame_it_Indic.png
http://next.videogame.it/magazine/review/
Here you have a simple quick search box where you may search reviewed games by title.

2. Query Result
http://s220.photobucket.com/albums/dd163/Elassar_Pics/FireShotcapture18-Nextgame_it_Indic.png
http://next.videogame.it/magazine/revie … 14&y=3
As you can see, search results are too many: seven links for two effective games found.

3. Selected Game
http://s220.photobucket.com/albums/dd163/Elassar_Pics/FireShotcapture25-Nextgame_it_MaxPa.png
http://next.videogame.it/max-payne/
Here you may already find something about the game (genre, distribution, number of players), but there is no game comment or review: you have to select the patform first.

4. Review
http://s220.photobucket.com/albums/dd163/Elassar_Pics/FireShotcapture23-Nextgame_it_MaxPa.png
http://next.videogame.it/max-payne/1619/
Here is the comment, at last, the cover image (only a little version) and game screenshots; if you want, there's a screenshots page too:

5. Screenshots Page
http://s220.photobucket.com/albums/dd163/Elassar_Pics/FireShotcapture24-Nextgame_it_MaxPa.png
http://next.videogame.it/max-payne/gallery/
It's a simple clickable thumbnails list.

6. Advertising page
There's another page I don't like very much: it's an interstitial (random?) advertising page like this:
http://s220.photobucket.com/albums/dd163/Elassar_Pics/FireShotcapture21-Videogame_it_Pubb.png
http://next.videogame.it/adv/intro/39/? … it&c=3

I hope I'll have a new TPF GCStar videogame Italian search plugin after all.
But now let's go into lethargy...smile

Re: Mixed requests: Italian plugins, classical music manager model...

Hum Elassar... I though I could have some time sooner sad

But, now, I've got time smile

I've took a look to NextGame. The plugin is near the end. In fact there is only one point missing : the comment. I don't know which one to take. For example : http://next.videogame.it/tomb-raider-underworld/ there is apparently one review for PS3 version but for PC there are 3. Which one to take ?

If you have an idea, I could finish the plugin wink  Or I can post the plugin without the field Description.

Re: Mixed requests: Italian plugins, classical music manager model...

Oh, tpf!
I think I may fall in love with you, at last!

(Just kidding!)

So. I went and looked Tomb Raider review: well, the three reviews are three parts of the unique splitted review. And I really don't know the reason of such a splitting method!

The first part is the "opening", the second is a "deeper analysis" and the third is the "final comment"; but no one of them is or may be a stand-alone comment.

Since there is no comprehensive short review, I think the best thing to do, if possible, is putting all the material together.

Let me know, my beloved!wink

Hi !

Here is a first version of the plugin. It isn't finished : I have to solve the trouble with the screen of search ( the games could appear several times as you mentionned, and I postponed this for the end big_smile ). But don't worry, I have an idea smile

But meanwhile, can you do some tests on it and tell me what is wrong ( I haven't  take the time to test it tongue )

Re: Mixed requests: Italian plugins, classical music manager model...

Just installed!

The problems I found (besides multiple redundant starting choice):
- some characters (, , , , ...) lost in some reviews (some reviews imported well - e.g.: Bioshock, Crysis - some reviews not - e.g.: Driver: Parallel lines, Gears of War);
- no description (only in Fallout 3 review);
- little sized images instead of larger ones (most of the checked games: Crysis, Fallout 3... - but not for Cycling Manager 06)

Now "NextGame" went down: it probably means I really must stop working and go to sleep!

Many kisses!big_smile

Re: Mixed requests: Italian plugins, classical music manager model...

I tested this new version for half an hour with a lot of games (till GCStar crashed sad).

And I think it works really good! big_smilebig_smilebig_smile

I'll test it more next days, but I think everything is all right.

Many many thanks!

Re: Mixed requests: Italian plugins, classical music manager model...

sad sad sad

Very sad news: my preferred site for my Italian books catalog, I mean http://www.liberonweb.it, is dead.
So the very good work made by TPF four years ago for his liberonweb.it plugin will be no more useful.
Thanks anyway for all the time I (and, I hope, not only me) used this plugin.

Bye bye.

Should you have a problem using GCstar, you can open a bug report or request some support on GCstar forums.
